Portugal Perfected – A Stay at Vila Vita Parc
Sarah Highfield is checked in and zoned out at this slice of heaven on the Algarve coastline

Perched on a golden clifftop in southern Portugal, Vila Vita Parc Resort & Spa is a five-star haven of refined comfort. Spread over 22 hectares of subtropical gardens, it blends Moorish-inspired Algarve architecture with vibrant local décor, along with personalised service, and breathtaking Atlantic views. Unsurprisingly, amid all its refinement, the hotel has attracted many celebrities over the years, including Rod Stewart, Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem, and Michael Fassbender.
First Impressions Unpacked
Vila Vita Parc impressed me straightaway with its friendly welcome, lush colourful gardens, sweeping ocean views, and attractive architecture. It felt expansive and pristine, with immaculate grounds and whitewashed buildings that gleamed under the Algarve sun. The staff were cheerful and friendly, and full of advice about which restaurants to try and the local area. The hotel’s reception area, decorated with local art and traditional Portuguese tiles, opened onto a stunning terrace with views of the gardens and a majestic water fountain – once I was on there, I already felt at home!
Rooms and Suites
Accommodation at Vila Vita Parc includes 203 chic ocean-view rooms and suites, elegant garden studios and apartments, and private villas with pools, all nestled in dramatic clifftop gardens. Each space blends Portuguese character with modern convenience and fresh sea breezes, featuring terraces, marble bathrooms, and optional butler service.

My deluxe room was spread over two levels, it offered a generous lounge and a cosy sleeping area, ideal for unwinding. I appreciated the Algarve-inspired décor, private balcony overlooking verdant gardens, and thoughtful extras like champagne on arrival, a rain shower, and an espresso machine. The bed was very comfortable and the room notably quiet – I slept exceptionally well throughout my stay. The bathroom was stocked with fragrant local Claus Porto products, and a powerful hairdryer and clothes steamer were provided for added convenience.
Dining Experiences
Vila Vita Parc is a destination for food lovers, offering a diverse culinary journey across 12 restaurants and seven bars, mixing gourmet skill with relaxed settings. Highlights include the two-Michelin-star Ocean, traditional Portuguese at Adega, poolside dining at Whale, and casual spots like Bela Vita and the House Bar. For those who want to dine in the comfort of their own rooms, there is 24-hour room service with in-room dining; I can personally confirm that their cheeseburgers are excellent.

Breakfast at Atlântico is particularly noteworthy, with an extensive buffet and à la carte choices served on a spectacular ocean-view terrace. The adults-only area provides a calm atmosphere, while its elegant blue-and-white décor and sea views create plenty of Instagram-worthy moments. Alternatively, breakfast is also served in the gardens of Bela Vita, where children are welcome.
Play and Unwind
The hotel offers six pools, ranging from family-friendly to peaceful adults-only zones, including an impressive infinity pool overlooking the Atlantic and a stylish swim-up bar at the Oasis Parc pool. A short walk down the cliffs leads to the secluded sandy Tremoços beach, complete with sun loungers, lifeguards, and seasonal water sports – ideal for relaxing or exploring the coast. Numerous staff are on hand in all the sunbathing areas to assist with towels and refreshments.

Vila Vita Spa, run in partnership with the renowned French brand Sisley Paris, hosts 14 treatment rooms and provides a serene escape for rest and rejuvenation. I enjoyed their Phyto-Aromatic Hydrating Facial, a one-hour face treatment that left my skin radiant and plump. My therapist, Carla, was great; her calming presence and gentle touch made for a truly soothing experience. The award-winning spa also houses a bright fitness studio, both indoor and outdoor relaxation areas, and a HYPOXI® Studio.
For anyone seeking more active pursuits, the hotel also offers a fully fitted gym, walking tours, three tennis courts, padel, mini golf, football, and volleyball.
Final Thoughts
The entire Vila Vita Parc experience was a real pleasure – the hotel is passionate about the Algarve, showcasing the very best of the region through its food, design, and service. Once I was through the gates, the hotel offered everything I could need or desire, making it easy to settle in and never want to leave. From the dramatic clifftop setting to the outstanding dining and peaceful spa, every moment was enjoyable. With reliable sunshine 300 days a year in the Algarve, it is the perfect spot to soak up the rays, and I left feeling rested, refreshed, and already planning my return.
