SONARA, a new Fine Bathing & Dining Club, will open within the landmark One Twenty development on King’s Road, Chelsea in early 2027, introducing a new category of hospitality to London.
Spanning more than 1,500 square metres across two floors, SONARA draws on centuries-old bathing traditions to create a new way to spend time well. Rather than treating bathing, treatments and dining as separate experiences, SONARA brings them together in one considered rhythm.
SONARA begins with a simple belief: restoration was never meant to be solitary. At a time when modern wellbeing often asks us to withdraw, SONARA takes a different view: that time spent with others can itself be restorative, and that conversation, laughter, food and shared experience all have a place within wellbeing.
For centuries, communal bathing brought people together to restore the body, exchange ideas, conduct business and spend time in company. SONARA continues this tradition with skill, care and contemporary relevance, returning wellbeing to its social roots. The SONARA experience will unfold through heat, steam, cold, rest, treatments and dining. Guests will be free to pause, return and repeat, allowing every visit to follow its own rhythm. On arrival, guests will change into swimwear and a robe before settling at their table in the restaurant. Reserved for the duration of the visit, the table becomes their own base within the club. From there, the ritual begins.
At the heart of SONARA will be London’s largest traditional oak-lined Banya Chamber, accommodating up to 30 guests. Here, highly trained Steam Masters will lead Parenie, a traditional whisk-steaming ritual performed with handcrafted veniki made from birch, oak or fir. Through rhythmic movement and gentle contact, the veniki gather and direct steam around the body, intensifying the heat to encourage circulation, ease muscular tension and leave the body feeling deeply warmed and restored. Each cycle of heat will be followed by cold immersion and periods of rest, creating a repeated rhythm of contrast and recovery.
Among the first features to be revealed are a Snow Room, Red Salt Grotto, Cold Plunge, Shower Buckets, Floating Room and Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber. Further bathing, treatment and recovery spaces will be announced ahead of opening. For those seeking complete privacy, SONARA will offer four Private Suites, each spanning approximately 90 square metres and accommodating up to 10 guests. Each suite will have its own identity, drawing on architectural traditions from around the world: the intimacy of an English country house, the calm of a Moroccan riad, the elegance of a Chinese courtyard and the warmth of an Alpine chalet.
Every suite will bring together a private Banya Chamber, Cold Plunge, dining and relaxation spaces. Treatments can be arranged within the suite, while a dedicated Steam Master will guide the bathing ritual from the first heat to the final cycle. Dining will be given the same attention as bathing. The 80-cover restaurant will take a European-inspired approach, with a menu designed for every point in the experience, whether a light dish between bathing cycles or a longer meal as the visit unfolds. Guests will dine in their robes, allowing the ritual to continue naturally through food, drink and conversation.
Open to members and day guests, SONARA is designed to turn wellbeing from an occasional experience into a regular ritual. Membership will offer a deeper relationship with the club, including access to a private Members’ Lounge and a year-round programme of member experiences and gatherings.
