Those in the know are aware that in today’s world, member’s clubs are the places to be. Whether it’s the terrace at Soho House on a sunny day, Annabel’s at Halloween, or Loulou’s on a Thursday night, there’s a member’s club for all – except it’s probably in an exclusive neighbourhood of London. So, what of those on the move, or looking to further their horizons? Enter Trotter – the luxury industry’s newest member’s club. And this time, it’s all about going global.

Designed for those with a passion for travel and community, Trotter is an online member’s club delivered via an app. By tapping into a world designed for tastemakers and the culturally savvy, a galaxy of exclusive events and recommendations opens up. So, wherever you find yourself on your travels, you’ll discover the hidden gems and hole in-the-wall spots that only the locals know and love.

Whether you’re in cosmopolitan Hong Kong or off-grid land in Svalbard, the membership package includes an attentive concierge who will not only come up with a varied and informed itinerary, but will also book it all for you. They will also be online every step of the way, whatever your requirements.

This is ideal for people travelling in groups, like young globetrotters looking to create trips over summer holidays with their friends, or those wanting to hit the music festival circuit but can’t be bothered with the spreadsheet organisation. Glastonbury or Coachella is easier than ever, with the concierge not only able to source tickets for you and your group, but also able to book luxury accommodation in the area and come up with new ideas above and beyond.

As for your name not being on the guest list, well, those days are gone. If you can think of it, the concierges are in-the know and ready to go: the Met Gala, Cannes film festival red carpet tickets, the AmFAR Gala, movie premieres, the Paddock Club for Monaco GP – where there’s a will, there’s a way. Alongside events, they dabble in experiences too. For one tennis enthusiast, Trotter organised a weekend tennis clinic and dinner with a Grand Slam champion, right at their own home.

While those experiences might seem particularly extravagant, it’s not just the big-ticket items they focus on. According to a Trotter concierge: “We have a lot of clients who use us simply to organise restaurant bookings – especially at hot new restaurants. In London, where most of Trotter’s members are based, you often need to reserve places far in advance. A lot of clients are time-poor or looking for that spontaneity, and it’s up to us to organise their time for them – and ensure its memorable.”

Tailoring to young clientele

Concierges are nothing new in the luxury market, which is why Trotter’s founder Chiara wanted to create a more collaborative effort aimed at the younger demographic. Companies such as Quintessentially, Velocity Black, and Amex Platinum are well-known in the concierge industry, but lack a focus on community – and crucially, they don’t tailor to young customers.

“I was always travelling with my friends, and always the one that ended up organising everything,” Chiara says. “At the time, I wished for a service that would not only bring all my friends together, but essentially organise the experience for us – as well as create a place where we could all send in ideas and inspiration. Eventually, I just decided to create the service myself! That’s how Trotter began.”

One of the main attractions of member’s clubs is socialising and networking with people in your circle – and then being introduced to their friends. The allure of Maison Estelle and 5 Hertford lies in not just the surroundings, but also the people within them. Trotter takes a worldwide approach. A global network of members connect over the community tab in-app, chatting over group messages, and joining meet-ups – which consist of anything from supper clubs to week-long festivals and Formula 1 race weekends.

You know that wherever you go in the world, there is a member ready to meet-up and show you around. Or if they can’t be there, they’ll be sure to send you their favourite spots. Explore like a local, indeed.
