There was no shortage of world-class talent at Guards Polo Club on Saturday 4 July. Polo legends, celebrated artists, business leaders and cultural figures gathered for Access Bank UK Polo Day 2026 in Windsor, where an afternoon of exceptional sport and conversation was united by a shared commitment to creating lasting educational opportunities for children through ‘Polo with Purpose’. Bringing them all to embrace how influence, sport and culture can come together to create lasting social change.
At the heart of the day was the remarkable partnership between Access Bank, Fifth Chukker Polo & Country Club and UNICEF. For more than a decade, the collaboration has demonstrated the extraordinary impact of long-term commitment, helping transform educational opportunities for thousands of children across Kaduna State, Nigeria.
To date, the partnership has delivered more than 120 classroom blocks, completed 30 new classrooms between 2023 and 2024, with 60 additional classrooms currently under construction, alongside investments in clean water, vocational training and wider community development programmes.
Jamie Simmonds, Managing Director of The Access Bank UK Limited, said: “Polo with Purpose represents everything this event stands for. It brings together remarkable people from across the worlds of business, sport and culture, united by a shared ambition to create opportunities that will last for generations.”
Where Polo’s Greatest Names Meet
The day’s polo delivered the calibre expected of one of the season’s most anticipated international fixtures.
Legendary 9-goal player Adolfo Cambiaso returned to Windsor alongside fellow Argentine stars Tomás Panelo, Bartolomé Castagnola and Juan Martín Nero, showcasing the very highest level of the sport before an international audience.
The next generation of polo excellence was equally celebrated, with Mia Cambiaso making her second appearance at the event, while 14-year-old Marwan Bago was named Access Bank Most Valuable Player after an exceptional performance in Access Bank’s thrilling 7–6 victory over Fifth Chukker.
Celebrating one of polo’s most treasured traditions, the Best Playing Pony award was presented to Dubai Verdadera, expertly ridden by Tariq Albwardy of Fifth Chukker, recognising the exceptional partnership between horse and rider that lies at the heart of the sport.
Art Becomes Part of the Conversation
Adding another cultural dimension to the day was Art in Time, a specially curated pop-up exhibition celebrating the enduring dialogue between African, Caribbean and British artistic heritage.
For the first time, guests experienced all four of Tatler’s landmark contemporary royal portrait commissions together—Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III, The Princess of Wales and The Prince of Wales—alongside the extraordinary 1960 Daily Mirror sculptures by celebrated Nigerian artist Ben Enwonwu.
Featuring works by Oluwole Omofemi, Sarah Knights and Hannah Uzor, the exhibition explored how portraiture and sculpture transcend generations, challenge perceptions and become part of our shared cultural memory.
A Gathering of Influence
Reflecting the event’s unique position at the crossroads of luxury, culture and philanthropy, guests included television presenter AJ Odudu (below left), former US Open champion and world No. 9 tennis player Daniil Medvedev (below right with wife Daria), British-Nigerian fashion designer Kemi Telford, alongside leading figures from international finance, diplomacy, business and the global polo community.
A Legacy Beyond the Polo Field
While the day’s sporting spectacle captivated guests, its lasting legacy reaches far beyond Windsor.
For more than ten years, Access Bank, Fifth Chukker and UNICEF have shown how a shared vision can transform lives through education, proving that when influence is matched with purpose, meaningful change follows.
As the sun set over Guards Polo Club, one message remained clear: Polo with Purpose is no longer simply a date in the social calendar. It has become an international platform where luxury meets leadership, culture inspires conversation and philanthropy creates opportunities that will shape future generations.
