Simply from the exterior alone, the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Spectre is a masterpiece of design, radiating class and sophistication in every possible detail. True to the marque’s heritage, this fully electric vehicle exudes the timeless elegance that has been its hallmark for over a century.
Black Badge Spectre is the most powerful Rolls-Royce in history – yet the electric power feels completely serene, even tailor-made for an ultra-luxury car such as this. The near-silent ride enhances the feeling of pure control, while its dual motors deliver 577 horsepower – providing the same effortless thrust we associate with its V-12 siblings, the Cullinan, Ghost, and Phantom. With an estimated range of up to 291 miles on a full charge, practicality accompanies its luxury. The car comes in a range of colours, including those shown across these pages: Salamanca Blue, Jubilee Silver, and Vapour Violet.
Slip in through one of its signature rear-hinged doors and you enter a cabin of unparalleled refinement. Every surface is swathed in the world’s finest materials, seamlessly blended with modern technology that enhances the experience without compromising Rolls-Royce’s timeless aesthetic. The instrument dials can be curated with a choice of five colour themes: Vivid Grellow, Neon Nights, Cyan Fire, Ultraviolet, and Synth Wave, allowing you to harmonise the physical and digital surfaces within the car via the SPIRIT operating system. This digital architecture can also reveal remote charging and location information, and even grants access to the marque’s exclusive digital members club, Whispers.
The development of the car was informed by hundreds of thousands of miles of anonymised Black Badge client driving data. From this, Rolls-Royce engineers learned how drivers exploited maximum power in short bursts, rather than over extended periods. An insight which informed the marque’s R&D process, and allowed Black Badge to be meticulously developed in the image of its client group. Furthermore, early demand from clients prompted the creation of a clandestine fleet of Black Badge Spectres, granting a select group early access to the car on the condition that they would keep their ownership secret until the official unveiling.
Commanding presence
On the road, this latest addition to the Rolls-Royce family is every bit as impressive. Steering is fluid and precise, aided by a wheel that feels far more graceful than cumbersome. Acceleration is exhilarating: 0–60 mph in just four seconds. The surge of power is unmistakable, delivering the commanding presence one expects from a Rolls-Royce – now reimagined in electric form.
The Spectre channels the decadence of Rolls-Royce’s golden era while remaining remarkably simple and intuitive to operate – a rare achievement for a car born of such modern ambition. While many marques still struggle to reinterpret their heritage in an electric age, Rolls-Royce seems uniquely at home in this new chapter.
From our experience, the Spectre doesn’t merely endure the shift to electric power – it thrives in it.
