A Legacy Behind Every Slice
Produced exclusively in the province of Parma under strict PDO regulations, Prosciutto di Parma is made from just two ingredients –carefully selected Italian pork and sea salt – with no preservatives or additives. Its distinctive sweetness comes from a minimum 14-month curing process, shaped naturally by the dry hillside air of Parma. Every authentic ham carries the five-point Ducal Crown, the Consortium’s mark of guaranteed authenticity and traceability.
Prosciutto di Parma Protected by EU PDO Status
Prosciutto di Parma is protected by the EU’s Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), ensuring its authenticity, quality, and heritage. PDO requires production within a defined geographic area and strict compliance with a detailed specification at every stage, shaped by the unique local natural and human factors that make it distinctive. For Prosciutto di Parma, this means each ham is made using centuries-old traditions and cured exclusively around Parma, where the region’s climate is essential to the curing process.
