Salon Privé launches first-ever style award for best-dressed gentleman

The Concours Style Award presented by Clements + Church is a first for Salon Privé, celebrating exceptional men’s tailoring and individual style

Salon Privé, the UK’s most prestigious luxury automotive event, will turn the style spotlight on its male guests for the first time this September with the launch of The Concours Style Award presented by Clements + Church.

Taking place on Thursday 3 September, The Concours Style Award will celebrate exceptional men’s tailoring, craftsmanship and individual flair, applying the principles of the automotive concours to the event’s male guests.

Luxury British tailor Clements + Church has been named Salon Privé’s Official Tailoring Partner and exclusive title partner of the new award, which will take place alongside the internationally renowned Salon Privé Concours by Aviva Private Clients.

Just as the cars competing on the lawns of Salon Privé are judged on their presentation, originality and style, the gentlemen shortlisted for The Concours Style Award will be considered with the same appreciation for detail. Tailoring and fit will be key, from cut and proportion through to quality of construction, while judges will also consider the overall look and how well it comes together for the luxury event’s distinctive garden party setting in the grounds of Blenheim Palace.

David Bagley, Director and co-founder of Salon Privé, said: “Style has always been part of the fabric of Salon Privé and our guests always make an incredible effort when they join us at Blenheim Palace. Ladies’ Day has become particularly well known for celebrating fashion, yet until now we have never had a dedicated award for gentlemen – the Concours Style Award changes that.

“There are wonderful parallels between exceptional tailoring and the cars we celebrate during the Concours. Both are about proportion and attention to detail, alongside individuality and flair. Clements + Church understands that perfectly, which makes them an ideal partner to launch the award with us.”

The overall winner will be chosen and the inaugural Concours Style Award presented by Mark Nash, Chief Executive Officer of Clements + Church, following the official judging. Ian Roper, Chief Business Officer, and Anna Moore, Chief Creative Officer will select the finalists during the day.

The winner will receive a complete bespoke look created with a Clements + Church tailor, valued at up to £10,000 depending on the chosen fabrics and design, while two runners-up will receive a piece of custom-made knitwear created for them personally. The consultation for the winner can see them visit the Clements + Church studio in Oxford, or a tailor can visit the winner at a location convenient to them before their new look will be delivered six weeks later.

Ian Roper, CBO at Clements + Church, added: “Salon Privé has a very distinctive sense of style and occasion, so we are delighted to be part of this first for the event.

“Great tailoring is about much more than simply putting on a suit. Fit and craftsmanship matter enormously, alongside personality and an understanding of what works for the individual and their sense of style. We are looking forward to seeing how the gentlemen at Salon Privé interpret the competition and bring their own sense of style to the lawns of Blenheim.”

This new style competition sits separately from Salon Privé’s established Ladies’ Day by Boodles celebrations and Best Hat Competition, which takes place on Friday 4 September.
