Clear your calendar, as for one night only, single malt whisky pioneers, The Glenrothes, are opening the doors to London’s first ever pop-up ‘Honesty Bar’ at TT Liquor in Shoreditch.
On Wednesday 12th September, whisky-lovers and novices alike are invited to taste, discover and explore The Glenrothes’ new Soleo Collection; a no-nonsense range of five single malt whiskies, that guests can sip as they please, without a price list in sight. Instead, guests will be asked to simply “pay what you feel your dram is worth” at the end of the evening, without pretence or pressure, just honesty.
Tucked in the cosy basement of subterranean cocktail emporium TT Liquor, guests at The Glenrothes’ Honesty Bar can choose from the full selection of age statement whiskies in The Soleo Collection. Aged from 10 to 25 years old, all are matured in 100% sherry-seasoned oak casks, making the whisky lighter and slightly sweeter than traditional styles. A bespoke menu on the night will show off the collection, guiding you through the individual flavour profiles and allowing you to enjoy the whiskies your way: on its own, on the rocks, or expertly blended in a classic cocktail.
For clans of confessed whisky lovers, a limited number of cavernous booths will be available to book in advance, complete with a private whisky masterclass hosted by Stuart Cassells of The Glenrothes, as you sip and socialise. When you’re not swotting up on all things scotch, there will also be the opportunity for three lucky guests to win a bottle of the Soleo Collection’s 25-year old whisky (RRP £375). Simply upload a selfie from the night using the #realwhiskyface hashtag and tag @theglenrothes on Instagram, for a chance to win.
Stuart Cassells, Brand Ambassador for The Glenrothes, says of the launch: “We wanted to show the people of London and the UK a true glimpse into the world of The Glenrothes with The Honesty Bar. For us, it’s simply all about the whisky and for nearly three centuries we’ve kept the same core ethos at our heart – create a quality single malt whisky honestly and authentically.” He continues, “We really care about our whisky and believe in it. We want to open up a new level of transparency with sceptics as well as confessed whisky lovers to say ‘this is our whisky, these are the flavour profiles, this is why we like it – do you? Yes? Great. No? That’s ok.’ It’s about enjoying The Glenrothes your way, with good company and no fanfare.”
The Glenrothes’ Honesty Bar will be open exclusively on Wednesday 12th September in the Cellar Bar at TT Liquor, 17B Kingsland Road, London E2 8AA. Reservations are available between 6.00pm-8pm and 8.30pm-10.30pm via Billetto.
Tickets start from £10, which includes a welcome cocktail and a selection of Wee Plates from Mac & Wild as well access to The Glenrothes Honesty Bar experience. Upon entry, guests are permitted to enjoy a selection of drinks from a bespoke menu of cocktails and drams made with the Soleo Collection, via they ‘pay-what-you-think-it’s-worth’ concept, as aligned with responsible drinking guidelines.
An ‘Honesty Trail’ will commence across the UK, where selected bars will also be offering the concept for a limited period of time from 21st September. Additional details to be released in coming weeks.
