Silent Pool Rare Citrus Gin – An innovative and alluring gin handcrafted with the world’s rarest citrus

Expertly balancing bright and zesty notes of Buddha’s Hand with enticingly rich notes of Natsu Dai Dai, subtly sweetened with Hirado Buntan.

At Silent Pool Distillers, we’ve always sourced the finest botanicals for our gin. When we set about creating the latest addition to our family, Silent Pool Rare Citrus Gin, we wanted to create something more complex than a ‘flavoured gin’. We wanted to create a gin with layers of complex citrus notes that showcase the intricacies within the citrus family, so we went looking for the perfect citrus to create our vision. Our journey led us to two renowned citrus collectors based in Portugal, who have a relentless passion for creativity and excellence. Ann and Jean Paul own one of the largest citrus collections in the world, growing over 300 citrus varieties at their home in Portugal. On our visit we sampled dozens of incredible citrus and brought as many exotic varieties as we could back home with us to our Surrey based distillery. After numerous recipe trials, flavour combinations and tastings our expert distillers finally landed on the perfect citrus for our new recipe.

So, what are the four key rare citrus in the recipe? We start with Buddha’s Hand, bringing a bright, zesty sherbet lemon aroma to the gin that lifts all other notes in the recipe. Natsu Dai Dai provides an enticingly rich mid note with notes of mandarin and subtle hints of lime. The Green Seville Orange is harvested while still green so it’s oil content is at its richest allowing for an outstanding orange taste. Finally, Hirado Buntan produces base notes of subtle but gorgeous grapefruit and a rich, creamy mouthfeel.

The result is an innovative and alluring gin handcrafted with some of the world’s rarest citrus. It expertly balances bright and zesty notes of Buddha’s Hand with enticingly rich notes of Natsu Dai Dai, subtly sweetened with Hirado Buntan. All 22 botancials in the recipe work in harmony with one another, no one botanical overpowers another. Make no mistake, this is not a ‘flavoured’ gin. This is a masterfully blended clear spirit that results in a beautifully aromatic gin with a unique taste.
