CONCRETE&WAX’s handcrafted collection of concrete candleholders and fragranced pillar candles offers the freedom to create your own unique arrangements at home
Launched in 2018 by husband and wife Alex Sommer and Laura Keller (AKA Mr Concrete and Mrs Wax), CONCRETE&WAX takes home decoration to new dimensions with a collection of timeless artisan products that are built to last.
CONCRETE&WAX have set out to capsize our preconceptions of concrete as a rough, heavy industrial material and soy wax as an essential basic. Rugged concrete is transformed into a luxurious, smooth surface and conventional wax revamped with alluring aromas.
The contemporary concrete holder collection offers multiple colour options, from monochrome basics to perfect pastels, through to courageous camouflage. It is available in five interchangeable stackable forms. Each piece has unique surface characteristics – a result of tiny air bubbles forming beautiful imperfections. Each partner candle – which snugly fits into each base – is available in four fragranced combinations: Lime, Basil & Mandarin; Tobacco & Oak, Sandalwood & Black Pepper; and Amber Noir. Embracing the fact that the concrete will always outlast the candle, each CONCRETE&WAX holder is also designed to fit any standard tea light. To complete the concrete family, we see coordinated snuffers and elegant coaster sets.
Conscious of their carbon footprint, every step of the CONCRETE&WAX brand development stage looked at local markets to source. Each product is lovingly hand-poured in small batches, finished and packaged in their cosy Suffolk workshop. This is to ensure true craftsmanship and full traceability of all ingredients back to the source.
Earlier in the year we saw the introduction of the BLACK COLLECTION, a range of vegan container candles and diffusers where each product comes in a matte glass vessel with a stylish black concrete lid (the lid is also a tealight/candle holder). The latest addition is a stunning range of stylish and functional matte black gift boxes which offer great product combinations. Mr Concrete and Mrs Wax are currently offering a handwritten personalised message in each box for that extra special touch.
