Forbes Travel Guide (FTG) the only independent, global rating system for luxury hotels, restaurants, spas and ocean cruises has unveiled its 2024 Star Awards, awarding Scotland’s Trump Turnberry Hotel a Five-Star rating. Trump Turnberry is the only resort in the UK to receive the FTG’s Five-Star rating. The Forbes Travel Guide Inspector highlighted Trump Turnberry’s spectacular views of the Scottish coastline, The King Robert the Bruce championship golf course and the private spots around the hotel for reading and relaxing, in addition to the exceptional Scottish hospitality delivered by the resort team. Afternoon tea in The Grand Tea Lounge and Bar was recommended as a must do, as was the ishga massage at The Spa at Turnberry, which overlooks Ailsa Craig and the Isle of Arran.
FTG compiles its ratings using an objective, independent and data-driven process. Incognito inspectors pose as everyday guests and stay at hotels, board cruises, receive spa services and dine at fine restaurants around the world. They test some 900 exacting standards, such as whether a room is designed to promote sleep quality or whether the food-and-beverage choices support a guest’s well-being – emphasising exceptional service, which accounts for 70 percent of a property’s rating. This year’s awards reflect the trend among travellers to seek out more meaningful, ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ trips and a rise in visits to smaller, metropolitan areas with a focus on culture, gastronomy and activities.
