Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon For Christmas

Elijah Craig bears the name of Reverend Elijah Craig who established his distillery in 1789 on the banks of Elkhorn Creek in modern day Georgetown, Kentucky. He is credited with being the first distiller to age his whiskeys in charred oak barrels. The clear, unaged corn spirit transformed into a bold amber liquid with a distinctively smooth flavour that makes Bourbon what it is today, and Elijah Craig earned his place in history as the “Father of Bourbon”.

A favourite of Bourbon connoisseurs and casual whiskey fans alike, Elijah Craig Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey has multiple awards and distinctions to its name, most recently winning Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2021 and 2022. 

Elijah Craig Small Batch is made exclusively from a blend of 200 or less 8 to 12-year-old barrels, aged in open air rickhouses. It is this extra aging and expertise in barrel selection that give Elijah Craig its robust body and rich flavour and owes its distinctive warm spice and subtle smoke flavour to Level 3 charred oak barrels.

The Master Distillers at Elijah Craig use malted barley, rye and local corn to produce this burnished copper coloured Bourbon, with a delightfully complex aroma, notes of vanilla bean, sweet fruit and fresh mint. The taste is smooth and warm, woody with accents of smoke and nutmeg and a long, sweet and slightly toasty finish.

35ml Elijah Craig | 2tsp Honey | 125ml Boiling Water | Fresh Ginger | Cinnamon Stick | Lemon | Rosemary

Take a heat-proof glass and add honey and boiling water, stir until the honey is dissolved. Add two thumbs of fresh ginger, a cinnamon stick and a lemon wedge and steep for five minutes. Then add Elijah Craig Bourbon and a sprig of rosemary to garnish. 


For this you’ll need to make rosemary syrup. Simply take 100ml of boiling water, and add 3 rosemary sticks take off the heat and let sit in the water for 15 minutes. Then remove the stick and add 100g of sugar and stir until dissolved. 

Then to make the drink, add 50ml of Elijah Craig Bourbon, 10ml of the Rosemary Syrup and 3 dashes of Orange Bitters to a rocks glass and stir with ice for 30 secs. Garnish with an orange zest and rosemary stick.
