Igniting Mayfair: Chargal, London’s New Turkish Dining Destination
Redefining Turkish Cuisine Through Fire, Flavour, and Flair

This December, Mayfair welcomes Chargal, a striking new three-storey dining destination at 11 Berkeley Street, created by Serdar Demir, the visionary behind Knightsbridge’s acclaimed Turkish fine dining restaurant, The Mantl. Chargal is set to redefine modern Turkish cuisine in London, blending heritage, fire-led cooking to deliver a multi-sensory experience where mezze, dining, and artistry come together under one roof.
For Demir, Chargal is both a personal and professional milestone. “After years of refining my craft and building a strong reputation in London’s hospitality scene, I wanted to showcase Turkish cuisine on a stage that truly reflects its sophistication and depth, ” he explains. “Mayfair, with its international prestige and discerning audience, is the perfect place to give Turkish cuisine the recognition it deserves. ” Coming from a family deeply rooted in food and hospitality, Demir has spent over 25 years immersed in the industry, cultivating a unique blend of precision and creativity that informs every dish, space, and experience at Chargal.
From the moment guests step inside, the restaurant leads them on a three storey culinary journey. The ground floor Dining Room sets the tone with a refined, theatrical elegance where modern Turkish cuisine takes centre stage. Signature dishes reinterpret beloved classics: wagyu İskender; red bream ceviche that nods to Turkey’s coastal traditions; lamb tartare and pulled lamb hummus celebrating Anatolia’s deep pastoral heritage; playful sucuk “candies’’ coated in hot honey glaze; and a dark chocolate sorbet lifted with fennel pollen and olive oil, echoing the flavours of the Aegean. Every detail from presentation to aroma has been crafted to surprise and delight, reflecting Demir’s philosophy of honouring tradition and then elevating it.

Ascending to the first floor Mezze Bar, the mood becomes more social, generous and expressive. This is where Turkish hospitality truly comes alive, inviting guests to share and connect over vibrant small plates. The mixed meze includes cacık, muhammara, hummus, cranberry kısır and seasonal crudités, bringing together the colours and rhythms of the Turkish table. Grilled halloumi doughnuts arrive with bright pomegranate jam, while mantı lamb dumplings offer a comforting, butter kissed classic reimagined with finesse.
The journey concludes in the basement Lounge, a sophisticated, low lit refuge designed for unwinding after dinner. Elevated sharing plates and a thoughtfully curated cocktail programme capture the relaxed elegance of a modern Turkish lounge, offering a final moment of ease and indulgence before the night draws to a close. At the heart of Chargal lies open-fire cooking. Oak-charcoal flames not only cook the food but inspire the restaurant’s design and atmosphere. Interiors draw from elemental materials wood, smoke, and stone creating a grounded yet sophisticated environment where warmth and elegance coexist. “Fire is both primal and elegant, ” Demir says. “It’s at the heart of our cooking and the warmth of our design.”
Opening on 11th December 2025, Chargal promises to become Mayfair’s most exciting new dining destination, a place where fire, flavour, and culture converge under one roof.
