Celebrating National Afternoon Tea Week with The Londoner

The Londoner celebrates afternoon tea week at their champagne bar, The Stage

Leicester Square’s iconic super-boutique hotel, The Londoner, makes for the perfect space to enjoy Afternoon Tea in line with the upcoming Afternoon Tea Week on 7 – 13 August at the hotel’s Champagne bar, The Stage, situated in the lobby. Afternoon Tea Week celebrates the great British tradition of Afternoon Tea and is the perfect excuse to catch up with loved ones over a cup of fine English tea and innovative desserts prepared by Executive Pastry Chef, Sarah Hammond.

Available 12.30pm – 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays – this perfect post-shopping, pre-theatreland pitstop – Afternoon Tea at The Stage comprises all the best of British High Tea favourites, including a selection of sandwiches, freshly baked artisanal desserts, and fluffy scones.

Square-cut sandwiches include Smoked salmon and Devon crab with yuzu kosho crème fraîche on granary bread and Lemon-roasted Norfolk chicken with truffle mayonnaise on basil-and-spinach-infused bread. Both plain and sultana scones, baked in The Stage’s kitchen that morning, are served with indulgent Cornish clotted cream, homemade strawberry preserve, and light bergamot curd.

The Londoner’s much-loved patisserie trolley offers a range of Sarah’s decadent desserts, such as Hazelnut dacquoise; Banoffee pie sandwich; Jaffa cake bar; Yuzu yoghurt gâteaux; Jivara chocolate, salted caramel, and peanut torte Tropical chouquette; Strawberry basil and lemon tart; and a Vegan black forest.

Served alongside The Stage’s Champagne Afternoon Tea will be a considered selection of Champagnes, as well as fresh loose-leaf teas from The East India Company, who have expertly curated a special tea list collaboratively with The Londoner.  A choice of Champagne can be made from a selection including R de Ruinart Brut NV, Pommery Apanage Rose Brut N, and finally, Dom Perignon Brut Vintage.

To set the scene, The Londoner’s pianists and vocalists play on The Stage’s grand piano.

The Stage’s Afternoon Tea offers four different packages:
– Traditional Afternoon Tea: £55pp.
– Champagne Tea, served with a glass of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut: £70pp.
