A place in paradise

An interview with Heidi Kiss, Broker at Engel & Völkers Cayman Islands

With its miles of white, sandy beaches, year-round sunshine, world-class facilities and service providers, the Cayman Islands is the dream tropical investment destination. Not only is Cayman a tropical idyll, it also offers a safe and well-regulated real estate market, ensuring investors can purchase with confidence.

The Luxury Report spoke to Heidi Kiss, broker at Engel & Völkers Cayman Islands, about why Cayman’s high standard of living makes it the ideal place for those looking to make the ultimate investment.

What makes the Cayman Islands so special as a destination for real estate investment?

Heidi Kiss: Many people choose to invest and retire in the Cayman Islands because there are no restrictions on foreign ownership. The Cayman Islands Government operates under British common law and is enthusiastic about attracting foreign direct investment. Apart from a one-time stamp duty, there is no annual property tax, including capital gains tax, income tax, non-resident tax, sales tax, or inheritance tax. We are a tax neutral country. Grand Cayman is the largest island in the Cayman Islands. It offers a wide range of property investment opportunities, from small one-bedroom condos that are a walking distance to the beach priced at US$365,000, to some of the most luxurious villas in the world.

Why are Engel & Völkers the go-to team when looking for your dream home?

Engel & Völkers is the best choice to manage your investment because we love what we do! We cut through the noise to deliver the best real estate experience possible. We understand that it’s not about the transaction, it’s about the relationship.

How is the local economy since Covid-19?

We take security very seriously on the Cayman Islands, so we closed our airport on 20 March. As of 21 July, we are Covid-19 free. Our economy took a hit, especially in the hospitality industry. However, they are gearing up to welcome tourists under a very strict testing policy this September. Cayman has proved itself a safe oasis in a troubled and chaotic world. We are expecting a lot of people to seek relocation here. Θ
