Escape the Summer Rush and Experience Paphos in October

With temperatures sitting comfortably in the early to mid-20°C and fewer crowds, October is the ideal time to explore Paphos’ storied ancient history. Visitors can explore the UNESCO-listed Paphos Mosaics and the Tombs of the Kings on archaeological tours, where smaller groups in the off-peak season means more personalised experiences with expert guides and fascinating artefacts.

Active travellers can also enjoy Paphos’ range of outdoor adventures, from cycling and hiking in the Troodos Mountains and Akamas Peninsula to picturesque local villages and olive groves. With Cyprus’ wine harvesting season, running between August and mid-November, October is the perfect time for vineyard tours and tastings. The region produces 12 indigenous grapes including the Xynisteri white grape, Maratheftiko red grape and Commandaria, an amber-toned sweet dessert wine rumoured to be the oldest in the word. Guests at Mare Paphos can book day tours to a selection of local, family-run wineries for expert-led tasting sessions accompanied by delicious nibbles of cheese, crackers and olives.
