Baden-Baden’s history dates back to its founding by the Romans. Known as the ‘Summer Capital of Europe’, Baden-Baden combines Mediterranean air with the elegance of the Belle Epoque and the cultural diversity of a major city.

Baden-Baden is home to Europe’s second largest opera and concert hall, the ‘Festspielhaus’. The 2,500-seat concert hall hosts international opera, ballet and concerts. Known for its great acoustics, the concert hall features performances from world-renowned artists including the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Mariinsky Ballet and violinist, Anne-Sophie Mutter.

In addition, Baden-Baden overs several museums that are worth a visit. The Museum Frieder Burda, for example, displays selected masterpieces of the Classical Modernism period in regularly changing exhibitions. Built by New York star architect Richard Meier, it is a must-see for guests who enjoy art and extraordinary architecture. Another museum worth visiting is the Fabergé Museum. It is the first museum worldwide dedicated to the life’s work of Carl Peter Fabergé, and contains more than 700 masterpieces including the famous imperial Easter eggs made for the Tsar’s family. There are also luxurious pieces of jewellery on display and other selected creations of this master Russian jeweller.

Apart from its diverse cultural offering, Baden-Baden is also an ideal destination for people seeking wellness and relaxation. e city’s two thermal baths o er exclusive wellness pleasure. The modern Caracalla Spa, at more than 43,000 sq. ft of bathing and wellness space, creates an exceptional ambiance for soothing relaxation in thermal water. The historic ‘Friedrichsbad’, with its 140 years of bathing history, combines traditional Roman bathing culture with Irish hot-air bathing. The circuit of 17 stations with changing temperatures has a regenerative effect on body and soul. Furthermore, Baden-Baden is home to a variety of spa and wellness hotels offering exquisite spa experiences as well as medical treatments.

A haven for food-lovers

For food lovers, the town has a vast selection of options to choose from. Its restaurant scene ranges from Michelin- starred restaurants, like the ‘Brenners Park-Restaurant’ and the restaurant ‘Le Jardin de France’, to cosy little taverns, offering both international and traditional Badian cuisine. Just six kilometres outside the city centre, gourmets and connoisseurs of fine wines can discover a variety of excellent restaurants and wineries in the Baden-Baden ‘Rebland’ area. The Rebland is Germany’s second largest Riesling growing district.

Three times a year, the turf elite meets in Baden-Baden/ Iffezheim. The international horse races in spring, summer and autumn promise exciting races and fancy hats. Around these unique sporty and social spectacles, events and luxurious balls take place in the city and bring a special atmosphere to Baden-Baden.

Additionally, the region is home to one of Germany’s nicest golfing areas: the Golfregion Baden-Alsace. On the eight championship golf courses in and around Baden – Baden, golf enthusiasts can enjoy hours of golfing pleasure amid the lush green surrounding landscape.

For a fun-filled evening, the Casino Baden-Baden is the perfect location. Situated in the ‘Kurhaus’, it is Germany’s oldest casino and according to German actress and singer Marlene Dietrich “the most beautiful casino in the world”. It offers guests the chance to dive into the world of roulette, blackjack and poker in a unique Belle Epoque ambience of arcades and magni cent staterooms.
