The renowned school welcomes students from all over the world into its kitchens each year, so make it your New Year’s resolution to join them and learn some classical French techniques.
This January, embark on the Diplôme de Cuisine, and equip yourself with the skills needed to be a successful chef, or the Diplôme de Pâtisserie, which teaches you essential pastry techniques. There are even intensive options available so Diplomas can be completed within a shorter time.
For keen bakers, there is the Diplôme de Boulangerie, providing you with the classical and practical skills of bread and pastry making. Combine it with the Diplôme de Pâtisserie for a more comprehensive programme.
There is also a range of gourmet short courses in the culinary arts and wine during the New Year, for those who want just a taster of the Le Cordon Bleu experience.
The student experience
Le Cordon Bleu has produced many notable alumni and their success can be credited to the fundamental techniques taught by the teaching chefs, and the numerous opportunities given to students to put these techniques into practice.
During the Diplôme de Pâtisserie, students host an Afternoon Tea, and on the Diplôme de Cuisine they host a buffet, the Cuisine Degustation. These events are unique to Le Cordon Bleu London and provide students with a taste of working in the industry.
Alumna Ellie Wharrad, the owner of Studio Chocolate, comments on her Afternoon Tea experience;
“It was our first insight into a real kitchen environment where we had to get something ready on time no matter what, and it really showed us what a proper restaurant setting was like. We then got to serve the afternoon tea and get some great feedback directly from the customer, which was great!”
There are many other events that take place at Le Cordon Bleu London throughout the year such as careers fairs and culinary demonstrations.
Students can participate in these events, assisting the teaching chefs where necessary, which provides them with maximum opportunities to gain experience and network with industry figures.
So why don’t you join Le Cordon Bleu London this New Year and become part of an international network.
