Joanne Moore, the Master Distiller at G&J Distillers, selected the traditional British flavour of sloe berries for Greenall’s Sloe Gin. The eight unique botanicals in Greenall’s, with their rich juniper notes and mature citrus and spice, combine with the sloes to create a warming drink perfect for autumn and winter drinking.
From its origins in Warrington, Cheshire, Greenall’s Gin continues to be distilled using the same secret recipe handed down over the last 255 years.
Greenall’s Sloe Gin is made with handpicked sloe berries, slowly macerated in Greenall’s The Original London Dry Gin, for a rich, deep naturally flavoured sloe gin.
Sloe berries are the fruit of the blackthorn bushes which were originally used to divide up fields in Great Britain and were first used to flavour gin in the mid 1700’s, at exactly the time Greenall’s was first distilled.
Appearance: A rich ruby red colour.
Nose: Classic sloe gin aroma of almond and cherry, underpinned by juniper, citrus and warm earthy spice notes of Greenall’s Gin.
Taste: Smooth with a fruity depth, rounded off with sweetness and a medium length.
Greenall’s Sloe Gin has won a coveted Gold Award from the International Spirits Challenge, a Bronze medal in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and was awarded 4/5 in the respected Difford’s Guide for Discerning Drinkers.
Greenall’s Sloe Gin is available at Tesco and Sainsbury’s stores. RSP is £16.50 for a 70cl bottle. ABV 26%. Best served with tonic as a twist on a G&T or topped with sparkling wine, neat from a hip flask or in a hot toddy.
