A grand hotel set to host a grand television series...
The hotel embodies much of Italy’s world renowned style, sleekness and sophistication.
It all began in 1918 when the Grand Hotel was taken over by Arturo Bucher, grandson of Franz Joseph Bucher who had constructed a succession of luxury hotels in and beyond Europe. The quirky magnate also known as a great railway pioneer renamed this portion of his business “Schweizerische Hotelgesellschaft”, a portion that by the start of the twentieth century had become the largest hotels undertaking business in the world.
The last hotel he created was the Semiramis in Cairo, where it is reported that he employed over 300 European construction workers together with 1000 Egyptians.
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Bucher ownership this year, Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni in Bella Bellagio will be filmed for a successful TV documentary (BBC Channel Five).
“How the Other Half Lives” starring Eamonn Holmes OBE and his wife Ruth Langsford will take audiences inside these amazing and exciting worlds.
The historic landmark on the shores of Lake Como has opened its doors again on 29th March 2018 for this season, when The Grand Dame writes a new chapter of history centered on regeneration, passion and community connections.
Gianfranco Bucher says “We would love to see you back this year to celebrate in style.”
