EIS HAUS

The urban alpine resort – complete with gondolas, heaters and a programme of events like bands, DJs and live ice carving – will be wrapped around an extraordinary sub-zero bar, where guests can recline on a Game of Thrones-inspired ice throne, while sipping artisan drinks from frozen glasses at minus 5 degrees.

A warm welcome and even warmer ski clothes and gloves await guests before they enter the bar, where they’ll discover an Instagrammer’s dream cavern of intricate, whimsically lit ice sculptures, including two howling wolves, a jagged cave, giant bear and shimmering bar carved entirely from ice.

Outside, guests can warm up with hot toddies under cover, and enjoy a variety of entertainment across the five-week pop-up, including DJs on the roof.

The ice-cool nightspot will become a focal point of Christmas By The River, a free festive market at London Bridge City, in the shadow of Tower Bridge and General London Assembly between November 30th and January 3rd.

Philip Hughes – creative director and founder of Eis Haus, said: “We’re delighted to be in such an epic location, sandwiched between HMS Belfast and City Hall; fittingly on the river, which has been a destination for fun-seekers ever since the Frost Fairs, when the Thames froze over.”

Christmas by the River is back for a fourth year, with 68 picturesque stalls for unique Christmas shopping of artisan gifts and boutique accessories, as well as festive food and drink, providing the sights, sounds and smells of a true Christmas market.

There will also be a workshop of fun experiences, including sub-zero Speed Dating, inside Eis Haus.

Tickets for the experience start at £15 – and include a welcome drink in an ice glass – with a VIP champagne package for £25 – including an ice shot and glass of bubbly – and are available from from 30 November until January 3rd. Last entry to Eis Haus is 9.30pm and the bar is open until 10pm. The après-ski bar outside and its entertainment are free.

Eis Haus is the the brainchild of Philip Hughes, one of the world’s leading ice experts. He has been at the forefront of the specialist world of major ice installations, globally for the past 24 years, designing, creating and installing everything from an ice bar in India, to a full-size Audi TT model and three-metre Tower Bridge replica.
